Depression and Other Mental Health Issues

Mental health difficulties refer to changes in the way that we normally think, act, and feel. There are many different types of mental health problems. Some of these affect our emotions (such as depression and anxiety), some our thoughts (such as obsessive compulsive disorder and schizophrenia), and some our behaviour (for example, self-harm). It is not uncommon for someone to experience a mental health issue and there are things that you can do to overcome a mental illness, or manage it better.

The fact sheets in this section provide information on a range of mental health issues and how you can manage them. There are many people who can help you through a mental health issues, such as a doctor, nurse, elder, psychologist or psychiatrist.
