Project Lead for National Aboriginal Mentoring Initiative

Location: Ottawa, Ontario

Seeking an energetic and enthusiastic Project Lead for CyberWolves, a web-based mentoring initiative for First Nations, Inuit and Métis students in Grades 7 and 8. Classrooms of students will be matched with a team of four mentors from the Lead Your Way! National Aboriginal Role Model Program for a minimum of one year.

Specific Roles and Responsibilities

  • Collaborating with two to three Aboriginal communities and up to twelve mentors.
  • Monitoring and supporting the participation of mentors and classrooms of students.
  • Writing curriculum and web content.
  • Writing activity and financial reports.
  • Collecting and analyzing data on the initiative to measure its success.
  • A Bachelor degree or higher in Health or Education or a related field
  • Three to five years work experience in a relevant field preferred.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Research and evaluation experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with web-based tools such as Skype and WordPress.
  • Strong project management skills, including management of budgets
  • Familiarity with First Nations, Inuit and Métis cultures and health issues.
  • Ability to communicate in English is essential and a working knowledge of French and/or an Aboriginal language is desirable.

Education and/or Experience

  • A Bachelor degree or higher in Health or Education or a related field

Position Status

Full-time, Contract to March 30, 2012 with possibility of extension.
